I wrote the first book in this series, The Bored Princess, for my then 8 year old daughter. She was upset and missing me.

It was one of the first stories created by me, specifically for someone that age.

The original version had illustrations created by our neighbour Lauren Wood.

Princess Ellena was bored!

She was also lonely and unhappy. She had no one to play with most of the time.

Instead she sat on her own in the garden.

Occasionally she would do cartwheels or climb the trees.

Then she found a tree she hadn’t climbed before.

Climbing as high as she dared, Princess Ellena could see the top of the wall and a lamppost right next to it on the other side.

Princess Ellena was delighted. She had a plan.

Tomorrow she would climb over the wall and Escape!
