I am, was, a Dairy Maid on a farm just outside the town of Burchell.
Being a Dairy Maid wasn’t as good as being a Princess of course. I was contented though, if not happy. I had a steady income, a decent boss and a roof over my head. All of which were important considerations for an orphan.
All of this changed on my eighteenth birthday but not in a good way.
Waking up in a forest, when you went to bed in your home is confusing at the best of times. Finding yourself naked, covered in blood and lying next to a dead animal, doubly so.
With no memory of the preceding hours, I embarked on a journey of discovery.
Not everything I discovered was pleasing though. As the issues steadily mounted up, I found that my options were steadily shrinking.
