ALLYCYON
Below you can find details of all my books that feature Allycyon
Allycyon was the first character l created for a story l was going to write. At first she was going to be Allison but l felt that didn’t feel right for a fantasy story.
I created the character as a young woman, as l wanted it to appeal to my young daughters.
ALLYCYON, EXILED ELF
Like most teenagers, I had been looking forward to my eighteenth birthday for years.
Nothing went right though, apart from having my screens switch on and receiving a kiss from my hoped to be boyfriend.
A long promised apprenticeship as a dancer, had come with too high a price. One that I refused to pay.
As refusing the apprenticeship came with severe consequences, running away seemed like the safest option. Now a new life in the Human Kingdoms beckoned to me, the life of an independent Elf Dancer.
Getting there, meant crossing the borderlands. An area reportedly filled with Bandits and Monsters. Yet I met others hiding out in the area and after leading a successful monster hunt, cajoled them into forming an adventuring guild in one of the neighbouring Kingdoms.
A life of adventure now awaited me. The quests I accepted though, didn’t quite go according to plan.
ALLYCYON AND THE WOLVES
Having moved into my new home, I found myself getting bored and fed up.
This led to me accepting two quests along the border with Attid. A wolf pack and some harpies had been reported.
To me, these seemed like easy quests, if not exactly quick ones.
After discussing the dangers inherent in chasing wolves, I hired some mercenaries, who were once again led by Treddian.
The harpies proved to be be an easy group to take on. Earning all of us new skills in the process, something that everyone is always eager to receive.
The wolves though, proved to be a more difficult subject, every plan devised came with difficulties and danger.
Not willing to back down on the quest, I came up with a plan that was still dangerous but appeared to be capable of achieving our aims.
The plan failed spectacularly but in a good way. This led to all kinds of problems while returning home, ending with myself in Court, in front of the local Baron.
ALLYCYON, THE RAIDER
The Baron had brought bad news on what I thought was a standard visit.
The King wants someone to lead retaliatory raids into Attid, striking at military targets.
Baron François explains that the purpose is not only to reduce their ability to raid Kirkluk but to also act as a deterrence to raids in the future.
In our first major action, we manage to free hundreds of slaves. These however can’t move fast and in desperation, I split my force. This allows me to set a trap, resulting in us wiping out a local Attid force, sent to recover the slaves.
Recovering back in Kirkluk, we discover that the materials captured in Attid, include a massive haul of gold and jewellery.
Returning to Attid, my Guild is not as successful. The local Commander had set a trap and and explains how gifting his King a present, my head on a silver platter, will further his career.
ALLYCYON AND THE BOAR HUNT
The last two years of my life have been hectic.
Now I was looking forward to a simple quest. New members required new quests to ensure they had their own funds.
It was a simple quest on paper. Thin out the wild boar population along the border with Attid.
Heading towards the north-east brought back sad memories of our clash with Attid troops and the friends we had lost.
A corrupt Mayor adds flavour to the quest as does a local Ogre.
Unbeknownst to me, I had become something of a celebrity in Attid Taverns. The Bane of Attid and Princess Reiver, just two titles I was going by.
Unfortunately our whereabouts had been discovered by the King of Attid and he had taken a personal interest in my demise.
MAËLYS
Below you can find details of all my books that feature Maëlys.
Maëlys was the third character l created. Once again l had a plot which didn’t fit in with the previous two characters.
MAËLYS, THE UNLUCKY ADVENTURER
Just how unlucky could I become? Apparently the answer was very!
Like all teenagers, I was looking forward to my eighteenth birthday, a day when my status screens would switch on.
Unfortunately, I had forgotten my clash with a mage, years before. He had promised to make me rue the day I had crossed him.
Unlike most teenagers, I screamed the house down when I saw my status screens. Being listed as Half Elf/Half Human when I had two human parents was the least of my worries.
I had negative stats! That was something I would have said was impossible if asked only moments before. Now sat studying them carefully, I quickly came to the conclusion that leaving home and town was the only option for an even vaguely normal life.
Leaving letters for my parents, I enlisted the help of my friend Mary and escaped into the Countryside.
Vowing vengeance on that long forgotten Mage, I embarked on my new life.
MAËLYS
Together with Svea and Gwellim, I had come to the attention of the King in Denbaaria.
The result, I now led a Guild of Adventurers, The Silver Falcons.
This has its drawbacks, one being that we can’t turn down Quests he passes on to us. The latest Quest is a search for an invisible thief. Talking to the head of the Northgate Mage School where I work, I discover that invisibility is possible, just heavily discouraged by an automatic death penalty for even researching it.
To provide additional experience to our new members, I take on a private Quest as well. Investigate a strange letter and key/ This leads to a wild chase across the City.
Just how many riots and near riots will l have to report to the King!
TATIANA
Below you can find details of all my books that feature Tatiana
Tatiana was the second character l created. The story l had come up with, didn’t fit in with Allycyon’s background.
TATIANA, DREAMING OF FREEDOM
I lived in a gilded cage, something I was acutely aware.
A Princess, I had everything I could ever want at my fingertips, except the one thing I really craved, Freedom.
At seventeen, I should have been looking forward to my eighteenth birthday. Instead there was just an arranged marriage to look forward to. An unwanted marriage to whoever my father, the King, chose.
Discussing my options with Sharon, my guard and confidante, I chose to disregard my heritage and attempt to run away. Deciding that a rich commoner was a better option than a poor one, I attempted to empty my bank account.
There I made a mistake and all my plans had to be rushed forward into one day. Making my escape alongside Sharon and my Ladies in Waiting, I took passage on a ship heading south.
Once on the ship I found that I liked the life and made friends with the crew. Unfortunately ship life holds many perils and we were captured by pirates. As days turned into weeks, it became apparent that our ransom would not be paid.
The alternative was to be auctioned to the highest bidder. As the date of the auction approached, we prepared to sell our lives dearly, having no intention of allowing ourselves to be sold.
TATIANA AND THE MIDNIGHT SERPENTS
As a Princess, I had everything I could ever want at my fingertips, except the one thing I really craved, Freedom.
Now I have freedom and live on a ship, The Midnight Serpent but that has its drawbacks.
Having turned eighteen, my thoughts turn to the future. Still potentially tied to the monarchy, I inform my brother, the King, that I am abdicating my title and any claim to the throne.
This removed the main issue with settling anywhere. With my title removed, Northgate, Denbaaria becomes my new home. We had accepted a Letter of Margue from the King in Denbaaria, becoming Privateers, with the intention of tackling the growing pirate problem.
While Captain Greaves remained on the ship, I was stuck in Northgate pandering to the local aristocrats, as the latest wealthy socialite on the scene. Partially thanks to the King gifting me a large mansion in the City.
How would I manage my two lives, wealthy merchant and wild adventurer?
